Description: 

From 2003-2016, Rick van den Pol served as Principal Investigator for the Category II National Native Children's Trauma Center. Rick currently provides post-retirement service for the University of Montana, and he works as a trauma consultant for S. Brite, Inc., an American Indian-owned firm with academic and real-world experience in economic development, public safety, healthcare, social services, and governance .

Description: 

Robin Goodman is Executive Director of A Caring Hand, the Billy Esposito Foundation in New York, New York, and consultant to St. John’s University. As consultant to the Allegheny General Hospital Center for Traumatic Stress in Children and Adolescents, she focuses on childhood traumatic grief-related activities and NCTSN projects. Dr. Goodman has also been a consultant for the Department of Defense Educational Opportunities Directorate and for the NCTSN. Previously, as director of bereavement programs at the NYU Child Study Center, an NCTSN grantee, she co-directed a clinical and research program for bereaved 9/11 families.

Robyn Igelman has been the treatment outcome coordinator with the Chadwick Center for Children and Families at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego. She now works within the Developmental Services Department as the regional coordinator for First 5 Healthy Development Services in the North Coastal regions of San Diego county. She remains active with NCTSN activities focused on partnering with youth and families and the zero to six population.

Roy Van Tassell is the former Director of Clinical Services for Family & Children's Services in Tulsa OK. a Category 3 Treatment Center. He currently is Director Trauma and Evidenced-based Interventions for Cenpatico, and an active affiliate. He is a TF-CBT National Trainer, participated in several national and state level TF-CBT Learning Collaboratives and has been actively involved in the Child Sexual Abuse and Child Traumatic Grief workgroups as well as other NCTSN initiatives.

Saprina Matheny was the Clinical Program Manager for the Ambit Network at the University of Minnesota. In that role, she provided clinical consultation and training related to the implementation of Trauma Informed Communities/Practices to a variety of audiences, including education, child welfare, juvenile justice, and clinicians. She now provides outpatient therapy, as well as supervision, consultation, and training with a particular emphasis on implementation of TF-CBT.

Sara McConnell is an educator and clinical interpreter with over 20 years of experience. In recent years she has worked for Colorado State University's community outreach program, serving the local Hispanic community by providing interpretive services in conjunction with social workers, judges and the courts, psychiatric and medical professionals. Her primary clients are child victims of trauma and their families.

Sara Pollard completed a postdoctoral psychology fellowship with the Georgia Child Traumatic Stress Initiative (GCTSI), an NCTSN Category III center and collaboration between Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University School of Medicine. During this fellowship, she developed expertise in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy. Additionally, Dr. Pollard delivered webinars on suicide, self-injury, and cultural issues in maltreated children. She now works in an integrated primary care clinic for children in foster care, and has been integrating the NCTSN's Resource Parent Curriculum with Triple P for foster and adoptive parents. She is especially interested in network projects related to integrated care, foster care, and cultural and systems issues.

Stephen DiDonato was the former Program Manager of the Center for Pediatric Stress Center co-located at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Nemours Children's Health System. Stephen is now an Assistant Professor in the Community & Trauma Counseling Program. Stephen remains involved in NCTSN activities and is focused on increasing the infusion of child trauma curriculum within higher education health science programs.

Susan Erstling was the Senior Vice President for Family Service of RI, Children's Treatment and Recovery Center, As the principal investigator of the NCTSN grant, she established numerous partnerships with police, military, child welfare, pediatric and multiple community organizations to provide trauma services and disseminate trauma informed care throughout RI.
